Trouble on the first day

August 24th, 2007 at 01:09 pm

I went to school early yesterday to take a look at one of the early morning class and see if I wanted to switch my afternoon class with that one. However when I get to the ticket machine and bought my permit, the thing swallowed my $10, spited out a 3hr permit instead of all day and didn't give me my change. I had to call their parking service to come a take a look. The nice thing is someone showed up right away. But since it was the first day, we ended up waiting nearly an hour for all those people in line to buy their permits before he could take care of my problem. Turned out the machine was out of change. Furthermore, since I scroll through the options too fast, even though the screen displayed the option I wanted, the function was still stuck on the previous screen. Which explained the 3 hr permit. So long story short, he gave me a note to get my change from their office as well as changed the permit to all day.

The whole incident caused me to miss that first class, but in return I received an all day permit for $3 instead of the regular $8. Oh yeah, I picked up a dime while waiting in line too, haha. It's still a pain though because now I have to attend the Tuesday class and professors allow adding on the second day is practically unheard of.

IRA contribution

August 20th, 2007 at 11:18 pm

Already August and I've only contributed 2,400 to the IRA for 2007 and that included several purchases beside DCA plus a 1,000 initial investment at the beginning of the year. At this rate I'll end up contributing most of the fund at the end, negating the benefit that the year may have brought. So I decided to bump it up to 100 biweekly. The maximize option would have been better, but I can't afford that right now.

Closing Account

August 18th, 2007 at 02:25 pm

Finally got around to closing my ING account. I haven't been using it for anything except to keep my annual expenses fund. Still, the interest there was way too low and I was starting to forget my login information due to lack of access. So I consolidated, kept the fund on paper and enjoyed 8 points boost on interest.
