Played too early

July 10th, 2008 at 10:18 pm

Ever since I finished the finals...yesterday, I've been in a state of euphoria, completely ignoring the research paper that is due tomorrow morning. Ten more percents and one more all nighter to go through before I can relax.

I like it better, and do better, when the class grade is made up of a couple major exams and projects instead of the constant flow of small 1% or 2% assignments, that take as much effort as a 10% assignment. Those things kill me. A little slack here and there, and those % are gone. The constant state of work is really depressing too. I know some people prefer them over the major exams because they can use them to pull their grade up but those are just so wearing.

I know this will make me sound like a total old fogey, but the classes that require a constant flow of 1-2% assignments sound like good preparation for "the real world." Smile

I had a mixed feeling on the grading in classes. In some, I really liked the few major exams & a 10% part for all homework combined... because it usually meant that you could study along on your own, skip class if you needed to, and then cram for the final.

But in the constant 1% grading classes, it always stressed me out to miss a day. I felt like I was going to be perpetually behind.

I sure remember final exams, and hated those research papers.
